Have A Great Time Excelling On The Job and In Sports
What are the daily prep items? These items get you to the job or field with the right mindset. For example, take a shower and shave, eat breakfast, have my gear (clothing and shoes) ready the night before, if you have children send them off to school, if you’re married tell your spouse when you expect to be home and talk about evening plans. Modify the list to your liking. Why do this? So you aren’t scrambling looking for your jacket or tennis racquet at the last minute instead you’re heading to work or the court in the right frame of mind.
Once at work have a set routine to get you settled down. This should take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure to talk with people about whatever they want to talk about. Examples are “I get a safe driver discount”, “My child made the honor roll so I get a discount”, “my child is having trouble with school”, “my daughter is pregnant and not married”, “what did you think of the game last night?”. Although we separate work from our home life, we are social beings and interaction plays an important part in people knowing you and being a part of the workplace. Sure, you may say my routine is to get the most done in the morning and when most of the people are at the water cooler I’m getting it done. Guess what? Get in earlier or take a break and get to the place people are talking (marketing 101). Otherwise, when you head to the cooler at your time there’s no one there. Yikes! It will make work a lot more meaningful and friendly. Then, get a cup of coffee and check the news, plan your day or whatever else you like to do in the morning. Depending on your sport, instead of grabbing coffee, take two sets of five shots right handed from the right block, mid lane, and left block and then two sets of five shots left handed from the right block, mid lane, and left block, 25 free throws right handed, 25 free throws left handed, and two sets of two three pointers right handed and left handed from five spots. Make up your mind you’ll be there for the entire time. Now you’re settled down.
This is the fun part. Here you are focused on producing results and sometime interaction with others is fast and real time. If you don’t know, knowing where to get the information is important. Expect the unexpected here because it’s real time. Be proactive as well as reactive. Be quick and concise. Help yourself and others as needed. Of course, you can take breaks. Be sure to do so. You’ll get more done. Try yoga stretches, go for a walk, talk with a friend, or call time out to regroup.
The late Ray Pelletier had a concept known as the “trust bank”. Ray would call his employees and discuss the progress made. Sure he needed an update but the real reason he was calling is to see what opportunities now existed because of the work accomplished, what roadblocks or help may be needed. You can do this regarding your own work or team up with a colleague. The key here is to be confident if you reach an obstacle no matter how small or large you know you can reach out for help without being reprimanded or your colleague knows this is a time for constructive feedback and a solution (what to do) not a time to criticize. Your team will be a lot better.
Here is where you break through the plateau reached. Write the lessons learned and tips picked up. Over time by keeping a post-game notebook your skill level consistently increases. Therefore, it becomes a whole lot easier. This is also a good place to write what you learned about the competition to increase your business winning percentage. For example, you might write there’s now a new process I can use again and again. Or when shooting the ball see the goal, think, feel (natural), think, and follow through with hand up through the goal.

Mood Up
I attended a college football game won by a field goal on the last play. During the game, the home team was behind and it was getting worse. This threw the crowd's mood off. The atmosphere in the stadium was not what the team including the home crowd wanted. However, there was time in the game and fortunately to get the mood up the person running the PA decided to play an upbeat tune. Immediately, the mood
was up and the players and crowd responded. What happened? By inputing an upbeat tune it reenergized the stadium's atmosphere to put the team in the right mindset. Since mindset controls the mood (the way you feel, bottom line, or action) the team (players) came back and won the game.
What input are you implementing during the work day or in your family life to keep the mood up? I'm not saying to blast a song throughout the office or home, although, it may work to your delight. However, there are many types of inputs (tip, add a tool, care, humor, take your pick), to get your team or colleague in the right mindset to get the mood up to produce results. This sure would make work a lot better. Or, you can do nothing and just think you don't need one another. Which do you prefer? I prefer to input to change a negative to a positive (mood up).
It is well worth it. Hope to hear from you.

Making The Team
1. Increase their intelligence for peak performance
2. Find their adaptability links to leadership and teamwork
3. Be "In The Zone"
The mindset of talent wins is changing. Sure each of us has talents, however, without increasing your intelligence for peak performance, finding your adaptability links, and being "In The Zone" the talent doesn't become honed and refined into skills. Another misperception is once skilled you aren't able to raise the skill level. Highly unlikely, especially if you want to go from winning a championship on the high school level, then playing and winning a championship in college, and then win a championship on the pro level.
The difference between high school, college, and professional sports athletes is mental. The higher levels have a greater ability to apply thinking tools to consistently play at the top of their game. Also, they form a team which consists of professionals to facilitate peak performance.
Regardless of the level of play, to make the team and win work on increasing your intelligence, finding your adaptability links to leadership and teamwork, and get "in the zone". Through preparation before the game or practice you'll perform at a higher level. The beauty of sports is you'll probably do something during play that you've never done before. That's peak performance. Hone and refine it to win championships.

In The Zone
Having worked with business leaders and athletes, one “way to think” so you can be “in the zone”, consistent high performance on the job is to do the following:
1. Refuel by using logical emotion to motivate and inspire your passion to create results – simply create a phrase that includes both logic and emotion. I put logic first to force you to think first. However, logic without emotion is dangerous and emotion without logic is dangerous. An example of a logical emotion phrase I use when at the airport security check is “get through the gate without a hitch”. The logic part of the phrase is “through the gate” the emotion part, usually the reward, is “without a hitch”. It’s a reward because by doing so you save time.
2. Visualize – this is done through stories, thoughts, words, people moment, and images. The story is from a speech or something you read. Thoughts are simply your analysis of the situation, people moment is a snapshot of inspiration, words are from a conversation or something you heard, and images are what you need to see to successfully accomplish your goal. As you use logical emotion and then visualize using one or more inputs, you are then “in the zone”. Your mindset is tuned up for high performance.
Often, we miss this step in accomplishing our goals and tasks. Therefore, our mindset is not primed for consistent high performance. Our results are weakened. When you take a few seconds to program your mindset before attending a meeting, making a sales call, interviewing, and performing your job, you are able to produce “in the zone” results. It’s a lot more fun being “in the zone”.

Your Health and Winning
Don't think it's bad luck that is causing the problem. There is a solution even if you have a chronic illness or disease. You just need to know how to deal with it to empower yourself.
People you see doing amazing things do so because they work on their health as well as working intelligently hard on their craft. It's not 100% natural although it may appear so. You may be able to do what they are doing or create your own path.
Recently one of the ways I'm enhancing myself is through supplements and nutrition. There's no reason I should feel tired through most of the second half of the day or not sleep regularly. Also if there are problems with alertness and even cognition there may be a simplae supplement you can take. This gives your body what it needs to function naturally so you can focus on your craft.
Either you can beat yourself up (I don't recommend this) or recognize by listening to your body to give it what it needs. There is a deficiency therefore fill it and watch your performance and mindset soar. Don't think you are struggling because you are less talented.
It takes intelligence about yourself to improve your mindset and motivation to go to another New Best Level. Your mood will be much better and you'll have more options and weapons to be successful.
For base supplements to address the mindset:
- Protein bar (high in protein & low in sugar)
- Start with low dose of Omega -3 fish oil (if it feels good then increase to recommended dosage)
- Vitamin D 2000 IU to 4000 IU
